Car Park Development Project Update – From the Project Team
Happy New Year to all members and guests. While there have been many challenges for all of us through 2020 and into 2021, we hope we can eventually bring you all good news on the project – but not just yet.
The Development Application (DA) we hope will be submitted to the North Sydney Planning Panel (NSPP) by the Willoughby Council in February. If we are at all lucky the DA may reach the NSPP Agenda in late February or March. With this time frame, we are advising the CGC Board that we should plan to have the Course open until the end of June 2021, which will allow an extension of a membership arrangement at the CGC until June 2021.
As many of you will be aware the activity on golf courses everywhere has been significantly higher since COVID-19 came along. This has put pressure on golf clubs to manage their membership numbers and arrangements. This has then meant that golf clubs in our area have not been able to offer us special membership arrangements for our members joining their club during our impending closure. We do not know what the immediate future arrangements will be for golf club membership at other clubs, but with the proposed extension of the CGC Membership to June, it will give us time to consider our playing future during the closure.
We remind you all that your GA Handicap, and Affiliation Fees and Insurance, have been paid and remain with CGC as your Home Club until 30 September 2021. We will provide you with the facility to continue this membership through until the opening of the new club house and golf course.
Thanks to the Green Staff for doing a great job maintaining the course over the Christmas period. You may have noticed the increase in piles of woodchips around the course. These are being built up as part of the Course Upgrade. The chips will be part of the process to mix with the sandstone excavated from the car park, as part of the development, to produce a suitable ground soil mix for the course upgrade.
Please do not hesitate to communicate with the Project Team through the General Manager if you have any questions.
